On October 23-24, 2016, BHEF and IBM hosted two events for the IBM World of Watson 2016 conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.                 

  • Evolving Education with Cognitive and Data Science. On October 23, 2016, BHEF and IBM hosted an Evolving Education with Cognitive and Data Science workshop. This pre-conference workshop convened faculty, academic, and industry leaders to explore how to rapidly evolve academic programs and research to satisfy the exploding demand for graduates skilled in cognitive and data sciences—across all fields of study.   • The Data-Enabled and the Hybrid Graduate: Data, Trends, and Solutions for Shaping the Next Generation Graduate. On October 24, 2016, BHEF and IBM hosted a higher education and industry roundtable on The Data-Enabled and the Hybrid Graduate: Data, Trends, and Solutions for Shaping the Next Generation Graduate. This roundtable assembled business and higher education leaders to explore the need for graduates who are data science-enabled versus data science experts, understand workforce trends and the implications for participants’ institutions, learn how to apply BHEF’s data science and analytics-enabled competency map, and discover the global nature of the data science workforce landscape.
