Ted Talk: Creating Opportunity for Black Talent 
OneTen’s skills-first approach, focusing on competencies, aims to close the opportunity gap for Black talent in America. What actions are leading businesses taking to hire, retain and advance Black talent and develop inclusive company cultures that contribute to their success?  What role can higher education play in equipping Black talent with the skills needed to enter – and progress – in high-demand fields?

This data will serve as an anchor for cultivating an effective skills ecosystem that better serves the needs of the future economy.

Case Study: Building Education to Career Pathways for Emerging Technology Fields
In 2012, BHEF launched the National Higher Education and Workforce Initiative (HEWI), a set of long-term regional projects focused on higher education-business partnerships. To mark HEWI’s 10th anniversary, this session will highlight pathway approaches and strategies of BHEF members who have innovated and increased opportunities for diverse students in emerging technology fields. Speakers will share how those efforts have impacted thousands of students’ career pathways, in addition to reflecting on what the partnerships would do differently and enhance as these programs grow and scale.

This closing session will guide attendees on how to elevate diverse talent to ensure opportunity for all in the future of work.
