BHEF Commits Support to U.S. News STEM Solutions

Washington, D.C.—The Business–Higher Education Forum is proud to announce its support of U.S. News STEM Solutions 2014—The National Leadership Conference, taking place in Washington, D.C. from April 23-25. For the third year, leaders in education, policy and workforce development will convene to advance the national STEM agenda.

The Business-Higher Education Forum (BHEF) is the nation’s oldest membership organization of Fortune 500 CEOs, college and university presidents, and other leaders who collaborate to promote innovation and enhance U.S. global competitiveness. BHEF facilitates peer-to-peer engagement and promotes effective undergraduate program design to create workforce solutions and scaling guidance to increase the impact on baccalaureate outcomes in emerging fields. These disciplines—data science, cyber, digital, and risk management—cross multiple industries and impact America’s livelihood and security.

This year’s theme, Where Employers and Educators Meet, exemplifies the mission of the U.S. News STEM Solutions conference – to engage a broad community of educators, policymakers and business leaders in finding solutions to a problem that is at the heart of America’s economic recovery.

As a recognized leader in STEM and supporting partner of the conference, BHEF plays an important role, helping to shed light on STEM challenges and developing higher education and workforce solutions, through its National Higher Education and Workforce Initiative (HEWI). Through HEWI, BHEF’s business and academic members collaborate to increase baccalaureate attainment and improve alignment between higher education and the workforce by creating undergraduate pathways to produce a diverse, highly-skilled talent pool to meet demand in emerging fields, many of which have their origins in STEM.

U.S. News & World Report has enthusiastically welcomed the organization’s involvement. “We are proud to have the support of organizations who recognize the urgency of making progress on STEM,” says Brian Kelly, editor and chief content officer. “We look forward to their valuable insights and involvement at U.S. News STEM Solutions.”

Brian K. Fitzgerald, BHEF CEO, concurred: “We are delighted to, once again, be part of U.S. News STEM Solutions. As our CEO members attest, keeping the national focus on helping college students persist through the first two years of college—which our U.S. STEM Education and Undergraduate Models have proven to have the highest ROI—will help keep our nation globally competitive and secure.”

BHEF invites you to help shape our nation’s future and has negotiated a special program rate for its network of contacts who register using code: BHEF14.
