U.S. STEM Solutions Summit: Business and Higher Education: Responding to STEM Workforce Needs

BHEF CEO Brian Fitzgerald is moderating the session "Business and Higher Education: Responding to STEM Workforce Needs."

Despite the weak national economy, many well-paying jobs requiring STEM degrees are going unfilled. Business and industry are not finding the talent they need in key fields, and many recent college graduates seeking jobs are frustrated that their skills and academic backgrounds do not align with workforce needs. This session will focus on strategies to align STEM undergraduate education with the highest demand jobs and increase the number of STEM graduates.

Business Summit for Education Reform

Brian Fitzgerald will speak at the Business Summit for Education Reform, an event hosted by the Greater Des Moines Partnership.  The goal of the summit is to create "strong and united business voice from across the State to take a leadership role in advocating for transformative reform in education this legislative session," and Fitzgerald will join other national and local experts who have successfully improved education systems.
